A Path to Embodiment:  Finding your way home through Deep Stillness, Movement, and Integrative Somatic Therapy

About Mary

I have been a practitioner of Integrative Therapeutic bodywork since 1991. The healing modalities that inform my work are Ortho-Bionomy®, Biodynamic Cranial, and Structural Integration.

Through the melding of these different, yet resonate healing modalities, clients discover and deepen their awareness to their unique structural pattens, and how these patterns express in life and in movement. This awareness gives rise to the capacity to more fully inhabit the body, and one begins to have a felt-sense of the profound capacities we have for self-correction and innate resilience. These modalities cultivate the direct experience of:

More fluidity/range of motion in the body

Deep stillness and awareness in one’s nervous system

Bringing the sense of deep stillness back into activity

Integration of the body’s separate parts into a functional, resilient unit

Deeper awareness of the body and mind continuum

Enhanced self-care tools to benefit daily life

Relief of complex/chronic pain patterns; recovery/rehabilitation from injury/surgery; resolution of biomechanical stress; restoration of  greater range and ease of movement; a calmed nervous system, and enhanced body/mind awareness are some of the consistent feedback reported by my clients.

Ortho-Bionomy®

Ortho-Bionomy® is a healing modality that works through the body’s innate ability for self-healing and correction. Gentle, efficient, and incredibly effective, Ortho-Bionomy® addresses myriad health concerns that produce pain, decreased mobility, and diminished resilience.

Ortho-Bionomy® is movement based and has wide-ranging techniques that addresses postural imbalance, releases tension/stress, restores balance, increases mobility, and a sense of well-being. Clients also learn self-care techniques to extend the healing effects of the session.

This is very grounding & centering work that reinforces the body's wisdom and capacity to heal.  Ortho-Bionomy® is a homecoming, and promotes greater awareness of Self though our body/mind

After many years I am still wowed by Ortho-Bionomy®!

Craniosacral  Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy works very gently with the bones, membranes, and fluids of the central nervous system. The approach I use is Biodynamic, and brings a deep stillness throughout the body, ushering in potent meta-level healing.  Cranial work is exquisitely useful for relieving headache, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), injuries, and PTSD, to name but a few.  Overall, the work induces deep calm and relaxation of the nervous system, and a relaxed nervous system is one that can learn, adapt, and be resilient. Clients remain clothed and should feel comfortable throughout the treatment.

Biodynamic Cranial Therapy

Let it be still, and it will gradually become clear.” Lao Tzu

In today’s world Stillness can be hard to find or make time for. We might think of it as something that takes effort to achieve. The truth is we have forgotten that Deep Stillness is always and already present and availablto us. It is our birthright and the Ground of our Being. In Biodynamic Cranial Therapy the nervous system is given space to fully to rest down. This allows a deep stillness to pervade the body/mind, and the reins are handed over to the deepest, most expansive aspects of who and what we are as living beings. What is awakened is an embodied felt-sense of this Universal ground of being, and it is a profound state that underlies all of life, offering life-changing shifts throughout

the body, mind, and spirit.

Biodynamic Cranial Therapy is for anyone needing stress relief, and a sense of more equilibrium, peace, and resilience in their life and body. The direct experience of an embodied state of Stillness is a supreme adjunct to any meditation practice, and is also deeply helpful for those who may be recovering from stressful , traumatic life events.

Somatic/Fascial Therapy

“Structure Governs Function, Function Follows Form."

The body's fascia network is an incredible system. Fascia is the most abundant tissue type in the body, and truly is the body's "internet" as it surrounds every cell, providing connection & communication throughout the whole body. We think our bones hold us up, but it is really the fascia! This is why working with the fascia is such an important component in healing from injury/surgery, chronic and acute pain patterns, postural discomfort, and stress/trauma patterns.

Restoring fluidity and suppleness to the fascia, sets the stage for our structure/posture (and the person who lives in that structure/posture), to become more integrated, restoring a healthy functional relationship of one's "parts" with the Whole. It is this sense of Wholeness that is offered through restored fluidity, alignment, mobility, and physiological functioning throughout our body-mind.

Self-Care

Self-care techniques are an important part of an Ortho-Bionomy® treatment and are used to extend and maximize the results of the work for long-term pain resolution and healing.  Learn how to self-heal using movement & positioning releases, isometric muscle release techniques, and post treatment posture re-education techniques.
